Hoechst 33258, UltraPure grade (CAS 23491-45-4)

Hoechst 33258 is a fluorescent nucleic acid stain useful for DNA labeling in fluorescence microscopy and flow cytometry. The compound is excited by ultraviolet light at around 350 nm, and emits blue/cyan fluorescence light around an emission maximum at 461 nm. Hoechst 33358 is less cell permeable than Hoechst 33342 (sc-391054), however this dye also allows for quantitative measurements when plotted in a standard emission-to-content curve. Hoechst dyes may be used on live or fixed cells, and are often used as a substitute for another nucleic acid stain, DAPI (sc-3598). Also commonly used to visualize nuclei and mitochondria.
